Rejoicings, Luke 1

Good Morning and thanks for reading here. I was reading Luke 1 in the Holy Bible. The Archangel Gabriel came to Zechariah in the temple to proclaim the birth of John the Baptist. Zechariah’s wife was Elizabeth. These two were both already seniors living in their old age, so it was humanly impossible for them to have children by just them two. However, archangel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and told him that he would bear a son.

Zechariah was a priest of the temple, and he had been lighting incense in the temple, so the people worried about him when they saw he took long. Archangel Gabriel was speaking to Zechariah in the temple. Priest Zechariah didn’t believe, and so Gabriel said, you are going to be dumb and not speak, because you didn’t believe my word. He said. Luke 1:9 I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.

Jesus also appeared to Mary in Nazareth in Galilee. Luke 1:31-33 And behold you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end. I wanted you to read how awesome this message was word for word. There is a lot in these three verse, but what I am mentioning is that Jesus was about to be born to Mary, and she needed to know that he was the favored Son of God.

Later Mary went to visit Elizabeth because they were cousins, and Elizabeth was miraculously with child as well. Elizabeth rejoiced when she saw Mary, because the baby in her womb leapt for joy. Mary said, Luke 1:47-55 “My soul magnified the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my savior. For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant: For behold, hence forth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with His arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He has sent away empty. He has helped His servant Israel. In remembrance of His mercy, as He spoke to our father, to Abraham and to his seed forever.”

Again I wanted you to read what Mary said, as she rejoiced greatly in the Lord. She was filled with the joy of the Lord. In the ancient books, it explains that Mary grew up in the temple, so fearing God was something that she had done all her life. Joachim and Anna her parents were visited by angels at the time when she was to be conceived and told them that Mary would be the mother of the Son of God. (Ferrell 2011) So Mary had spent her whole life around the temple serving and believing in the Lord. (Ferrell, 2011) Here she rejoiced, just like the Priest Zechariah rejoiced when his mouth was opened and he was permitted to speak again. He said.

Luke 1:68 – 75 Blessed is the lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His people, and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets, who have been since the world began, that we should be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us, to perform the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant, the oath which He swore to our father Abraham: to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.

There is so much Rejocing in this chapter. It is really a blessing to read the joy that the Lord Jesus gave to his servants who he blessed. And these things are written down so that we could rejoice also in the Name of Jesus in these last days. Jesus has raised up a horn, Zechariah, said, a horn of salvation. According to the ancient books, John the Baptist was hunted by the Herodians who were ordered to kill the first born babies of all the Israelites, and Zechariah lost his life on the altar at the temple by the soldiers who came looking for John to slay him. (Ferrell, 2011) There was trouble! Jesus saved John by Elizabeth fled to the mountains and was fed by the angels, and God took John and raised him on Locust and Honey in the desert. John grew close to the Holy Spirit as he was born with the Holy Spirit. (Ferrell, 2011)

Then, when John, the Baptist was of age he came to the cities testifying of the lord and lifting the name of the Lord. The Holy Bible explains that John was the One crying out in the wilderness to make straight the way of the Lord. So, after all that rejoicing of his birth and the birth of the Lord Jesus, the work began. Satan sent the soldiers after the first-born children in Israel, but God saved both Jesus and John, the Baptist, because they were key in his ministry to save the world. All that rejoicing though is with us today, so don’t be afraid now to rejoice when you feel afraid of the soldiers of this world that satan sends out to destroy Christians.

Rejoice today. Be exceedingly glad, for the time is at hand. Jesus said to me in tongues when I was typing my prayers. I wrote and recited these tongues – (A la ha a bani, A la ha a bani, A la a Sani – Truth to the nations! Truth to the nations! The time is at Hand.) I urge you to rejoice in these scriptures. Know your savior today.
